A0026 - Vojščica - Ossarium of fallen Austro-Hungarian soldiers in a civilian cemetery
Text description
An ossarium of fallen Austro-Hungarian soldiers in a civilian cemetery in Tabor. Tabor (327 m) lies on the southern side of the village of Vojscica. It contains today a civilian cemetery. During the war it was an important Austrian outpost. The cemetery chapel was used as an artillery observation post and the hill under the former church of St. Vid was covered with underground tunnels and caverns. The church as well as the nearby historic "tabor" wall were completely destroyed during the war.

In today's civilian cemetery stands a pyramid – an ossarium of fallen officers of the 96th Infantry Regiment from Karlovac (Croatia). Among them is also a military doctor who most probably worked in the nearby military hospital where they treated patients with cholera.

On the pyramid are four separate inscriptions made from lead.

Location description
The pyramid has been erected in the southwest corner of the civilian cemetery on Tabor in Vojscica.
Condition
The renovation of the pyramid in 2004 was done very unprofessionally and has damaged the cast lead letters considerably. The renovation was probably ordered by the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs.
