A0202 - Vodice - The General Gonzaga Mausoleum on Mt. Vodice.
Text description
The mausoleum was built at the wish of General Gonzaga, who expressed in his will a desire to be buried on a hill where his soldiers died during the war. As the Second World War started before the mausoleum was finished, he was never buried in it.
On a ring which surrounds the monument is located an inscription, carved in stone and dedicated to the late general. Inside the mausoleum is a mosaic, which represents the coat-of-arms of the Gonzaga family and a list of battlefields, where General Maurizio Ferrantze Gonzaga had fought his battles.

Location description
The monument is situated on top of Mt. Vodice, on Quota 652.
Condition
The mausoleum is in good condition, only the colour mosaic is slightly damaged as it is a constant victim of visitors, who remove the colour stones from for souvenirs.
Some conservation work has been taken place on the mausoleum.
