Text description
An inscription dedicated to the Italian 43rd Infantry Regiment is situated near the starting positions from where the Italian soldiers launched their attack on Mt. Santo on 25th August 1917, not knowing that the Austrian defenders have under the cover of darkness abandoned their positions.

Message interpretation
Il 24 agosto 1917 il 43 fanteria al comando (duce - espressione latina) del colonnello Camagna di qui piombava sul nemico in fuga.
Translation of message interpretation
On 24th August 1917 the 43rd Infantry Regiment led by Colonel Camagna pursued the fleeing enemy from here.
Location description
The rock is situated above the tarmac road, about 50m below the saddle between Mt. Vodice and Mt. Santo (Preski vrh) in the direction towards Plave.
Condition
The rock with the inscription was heavily damaged during the winter of 2004-2005 and the inscription is now barely eligible. This was caused by vandals who most probably wrongly interpreted the word DUCE.
