A0014 - Kostanjevica - The monument on a former Austro-Hungarian military cemetery
Text description
The monument was erected on a former Austro-Hungarian military cemetery. On it is the inscription in German and Croatian languages, which translates as the following: HERE REST THE HEROES OF THE KAISERLICHES-UND-KÖNIGLICHES [IMPERIAL AND ROYAL] INFANTRY REGIMENT, FALLEN DURING THE SEVENTH CARSO BATTLE [*], SEPTEMBER 1916. The recruiting district of this Croatian regiment was the city of Karlovac (Carlstadt) and the surrounding area. The monument was renovated by the members of the local historical association in 2002-2003.

Location description
After driving for some 400 metres on the tarmac road from Kostanjevica to Lokvica, we turn right (northwest), continue for about 350 metres and on the next crossing turn left (west) and after some additional 100 metres we come upon a valley with a former Austro-Hungarian cemetery and a monument.

The monument is renovated and in a good condition.
