Pecina Height and Pecinka Cave were during the war a large defence system, which was connected with a staircase. On top of the Pecinka are visible the remains of concrete foundations for a searchlight station. On a wall there is a small inscription: Oss. Luigi.
A small height Pecina (Quota 308) was often referred by the Italians as the "Eye of the Carso" and as such was used during the war by both sides as an observation post. The peak was taken by the Italians (1st Bersaglieri Brigade) on 1st November 1916 and remained in their possession until the end of October 1917, when they were forced to pull back to the Piave River.
The natural cave of Pecinka was used by both armies as shelter for the troops. In 1917 the cave housed the artillery command of the 21st Italian Infantry Division.
